Construction Inspectors

We are actively  looking for Construction Inspectors for major, high visibility transit and roadway projects in the New York metropolitan area.  

What You’ll Do:


The primary duties of our inspectors include conducting and documenting observations of construction as it progresses on projects, which may involve highways, bridges, street and structural work, including elements such as: sewers, catch basins and connections, drainage, water mains, utilities, curbs, sidewalks, roadways, mill and fill, structural steel and concrete, pile driving, railroads, traffic and street lights, street appurtenances, and associated work. 

Your construction knowledge and skills are needed to monitor progress, verify quantities and ensure compliance to engineering plans, specifications and construction, safety standards and specific agency requirements. You’ll be expected to interpret of drawings and documents, including work orders and build documents.

Your days will be spent at the construction site or at the field office reviewing plans and specifications for the construction operations being performed, reporting field site results and on-going information to construction managers and/or using computer assisted engineering software to prepare engineering documents. You’ll prepare of daily field reports, including communication of deficiencies observed in the field to project managers, contractors, and/or client representatives.

Some days you may test construction materials to meet quality assurance requirements of the design or assist with the maintenance of a database of information concerning ongoing projects. Inspectors use applicable field testing and inspection procedures and equipment to perform required field testing; this requires you to measure quantities, draw sketches related to pipe installation, catch basin (by hand or computer software), and other related methods.



We’re Looking For:

Required Qualifications

  1. B.S. or Associates (Engineering, Architecture, or related field) or NICET II Certification 
  2. A valid driver’s license and a car, since the position is for inspection of roadway construction work
  3. An understanding and ability to interpret written specifications, plans, and construction documents for work orders and build documents
  4. Must possess the physical ability to move around an active construction site
  5. Naturally, you’ll need strong computer skills (Microsoft Office) etc.
  6. 2-5 years construction inspection experience

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience with NYCT, NYSDOT, or other local agencies 
  2. Proficiency with web-based construction document management platforms 
  3. Certification for ACI Concrete Testing, work zone traffic control, 10-hour OSHA safety training certification and/or other relevant certifications
